Lawrence James, 63, killed in wrong-way semi crash on FM 1960

DAYTON, TX – A Houston truck driver died late last Wednesday morning in a wrong-way collision in southwest Liberty County, reports Bluebonnet News.

The fatal accident occurred shortly before 11 a.m. in the area of FM 1960 and CR 608 on the far-west side of Dayton. This is about 38 miles northeast of Houston.

Police say that an eastbound roll-off truck entered the westbound side of FM 1960 and collided head-on with a westbound 18-wheeler.

Medics transported the driver of the semi, identified as 63-year-old Lawrence Al James to an area hospital. James succumbed to his injuries not long after transport.

The driver of the roll-off truck and one passenger went to the hospital with injuries of unknown severity.

Officials closed FM 1960 in the area of the crash for several hours while emergency crews gathered evidence and worked to clear the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
