David Carrasco, 38, killed in 18-wheeler crash on FM 1787

MIDLAND CO., TX – A 38-year-old Odessa man sustained fatal injuries Monday in a collision involving two semi-trucks in Midland County, reports NewsWest 9.

Shortly after 2 a.m., emergency crews responded to FM 1787, which runs east to west from TX-349 in southern Midland County to US-385 on the far-southern outskirts of Odessa. Officials have not yet provided a mile marker or cross street for the accident.

Police say that an eastbound 2019 International LT625 collided with an eastbound 2006 Volvo semi when the driver of the International attempted to pass the Volvo semi as the latter driver was making a left turn.

The driver of the International semi, identified as David Carrasco, died at the scene of the crash.

Medics transported the driver of the Volvo semi, identified as 64-year-old Pedro Perez Caceres of Florida, to an area hospital with serious injuries.

Overnight motorists likely faced delays along FM 1787 while crews assisted the victims and worked to clear the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
