Semi crash at TX-302, FM 181 claims Christopher Eric Wilke

ECTOR CO, TX – A 56-year-old man sustained fatal injuries Sunday morning in a two-vehicle crash involving a 18-wheeler in northwest Ector County, reports First Alert 7.

Police and EMS responded to a major T-bone collision at the intersection of TX-302 and FM 181 around 5:30 a.m. This is just southwest of Goldsmith and about 20 miles northwest of Odessa.

Authorities say that the driver of an eastbound semi-truck turned left on FM 181 without yielding right of way to a westbound passenger vehicle. The 18-wheeler struck the vehicle.

The driver of the car, identified as Christopher Eric Wilke, died at the scene.

The truck driver did not sustain injuries in the accident.

The collision likely resulted in significant delays along TX-302 near Goldsmith Sunday morning while crews worked to clear the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
