Jason Vargas Jr. claimed in El Paso motorcycle collision

EL PASO, TX – A two-vehicle crash claimed the life of a 26-year-old motorcyclist Tuesday on the east side of El Paso, reports KFOX 14.

The accident occurred in the morning at the intersection of Alameda Avenue and Delta Drive, which is just northeast of Ascarate Golf Course and south of the Marathon Petroleum North Plant.

Police say that a 2005 Honda CBR 1100 motorbike and a 2014 Volkswagen Passat collided when the driver of the motorcycle failed to heed a red light at the intersection.

The motorcyclist, identified as Jason Vargas Jr., died at the scene of the accident.

No other injuries have been reported in connection to the crash.

Officials closed lanes adjacent to the intersection while emergency crews worked at the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
