Jerry Warren claimed in head-on crash at TX-110, CR 2197

WHITEHOUSE, TX – A 79-year-old Troup man sustained fatal injuries Monday morning in a wrong-way collision in south-central Smith County, reports CBS 19 and KETK.

Shortly after 9:30 a.m., emergency crews responded to the area of TX-110 and County Road 2107 on the southern outskirts of Whitehouse, which is about 10 miles southeast of Tyler.

Police are still investigating what might have caused two vehicles to collide head on along the highway. Photos taken at the scene suggest that a red car and silver car may have been involved. The two vehicles came to rest in the grassy areas along opposite sides of the highway.

One person died in the accident. Authorities identified him as Jerry Warren.

Medics transported a second victim to an area hospital with serious injuries.

Officials closed TX-110 in the area of the crash while teams gathered evidence and worked at the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
