Houston driver flees after hitting, killing Ricky Ornelas

HOUSTON, TX – A 34-year-old man sustained fatal injuries last week in a hit-and-run pedestrian crash in southwest Houston, reports My Texas Daily.

The accident occurred on Friday, September 5th, along the southbound side of Country Creek Street between Club Creek Drive and Deering Drive. This is just southwest of Westwood Golf Club.

Police say that the pedestrian was walking in the roadway when a southbound Ford F150 truck struck him.

The pedestrian succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Authorities identified him as Ricky Ornelas.

The driver involved in the crash, identified as 20-year-old Yimy Ricardo Ulloa-Padilla, did not stop to render aid or to speak with officials.

Authorities later located and arrested Ulloa-Padilla several miles south on West Bellfort Avenue. The driver was found to be intoxicated at the time of arrest and will likely face charges.

A full investigation is underway.
