Multi-car crash near I-35, McCarty kills Khristian Vicknair

SAN MARCOS, TX – A 33-year-old motorcyclist died Sunday in a collision involving five vehicles along the interstate in south-central Hays County, reports KSAT 12.

The major crash prompted a response from emergency crews shortly before 2:30 a.m. on the southbound side of I-35 between East McCarty Lane and Hays Co Civic Center Road in southwest San Marcos, which is about 31 miles southwest of Austin.

Police haven’t yet specified the cause of the accident or the manner in which the involved vehicles impacted. They say that a motorcycle struck at least one other vehicle, and that the operator succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Authorities identified the deceased motorcyclist as Khristian Vicknair of New Braunfels.

Thus far, police haven’t reported in other injuries in connection to the crash.

Officials closed the southbound side of I-35 for just over six hours while crews gathered evidence and worked to clear the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
