Victor Evans II IDed as victim in collision near I-35, Yager

AUSTIN, TX – A 24-year-old man died early last Thursday in a multi-vehicle crash involving a semi along the interstate in north Austin, reports MYSA.

The three-vehicle collision occurred shortly after 2:15 a.m. on the northbound side of I-35 near Tech Ridge Boulevard, or West Yager Lane. This is just east of Walnut Creek Metropolitan Park.

Police say that for unknown reasons, a southbound sedan entered the northbound side of the interstate and collided head on with another car and a northbound 18-wheeler.

The wrong-way driver, identified as Victor Lamar Evans II, succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident.

The other three people involved in the accident did not require hospitalization.

There’s no word yet regarding Evans’ condition at the time of the crash.

Officials closed the northbound side of I-35 for over eight hours Thursday morning while emergency teams gathered evidence and worked to clear the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
