2-car crash in Jack Co. kills Jonathan Contreras, 4 others

JACK CO., TX – A man and a child died Sunday in a two-vehicle collision that happened along the highway between Jacksboro and Bryson, reports WFAA News 8.

Shortly after 1 p.m., emergency teams responded to a wrong-way crash along US-380 between Chastain Road and Dark Corner Road, about nine miles southwest of Jacksboro and 68 miles northwest of Fort Worth.

Police say that a westbound 2018 Honda Accord carrying three people collided with an eastbound 2017 Honda CR-V when the driver of the Accord entered the eastbound side of the highway to make an illegal pass. The impact of the crash caused the Accord to overturn.

Authorities declared two people from the the CR-V deceased at the scene — a one-year-old boy and Jonathan Andres Contreras, 29.

All of the occupants of the Accord died at the scene; authorities have not yet released their names to the public.

Medics transported the driver of the CR-V and a second child to an area hospital with serious injuries.

A full investigation is underway.
