Cameron Gerard, Alexandria Jones claimed in I-10 crash

JEFFERSON CO., TX – Authorities have identified the victims of a single-vehicle collision that happened Monday in Jefferson County, reports KFDM 6.

Shortly before 5:30 a.m., emergency crews responded to a major accident on the East Freeway near Boyt Road, about 11 miles southwest of Beaumont.

The preliminary investigation indicates that an eastbound Dodge Charger carrying two people hit a concrete barrier on the interstate. It’s not yet clear what caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle.

Both occupants of the Charger died at the scene. Authorities identified them as 34-year-old Cameron Gerard and 33-year-old Alexandria Jones.

Gerard, police say, was a correctional officer at the Jefferson County Jail.

Officials closed I-10 eastbound in the area of the crash while teams gathered evidence and worked to clear the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
