Juan Mendoza IDed as victim in fatality collision near Dalhart

HARTLEY CO., TX – Emergency crews responded to a double-fatality accident Tuesday in northeast Hartley County, reports abc 7 News.

The two-vehicle crash happened in the morning just east of Dalhart at the intersection of FM 281 and FM 2577. This is around 86 miles northwest of Amarillo.

A preliminary investigation indicates that a westbound Honda Accord struck the passenger side of an eastbound minivan when the driver of the latter vehicle initiated a turn onto FM 2577.

Two people from the minivan sustained fatal injuries. Authorities identified the victims as 23-year-old Juan Lopez Mendoza and 22-year-old Manuela Gomez Rallos.

Medics transported the driver of the sedan, identified as 31-year-old Aura Hernandez Gomez, to an area hospital with serious injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
