Motorcycle crash on US-62 in W Lubbock claims Sean Canales

LUBBOCK, TX – A man died, and a teen girl sustained injuries Sunday in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on the west side of Lubbock, reports everythingLubbock.

Around 7:30 p.m., emergency crews responded to a major accident on the Marsha Sharp Freeway, or US-62, near Toledo Avenue in the Coronado area.

Police haven’t yet determined what caused the operator of a westbound motorcyclist to lose control of his bike and to crash into a guardrail along the freeway.

Medics transported both the motorcycle operator and passenger to an area hospital with serious injuries. The operator, since identified as 19-year-old Sean Canales, succumbed to his injuries after transport.

Authorities have identified the passenger from the motorcycle as Maizie Casares.

A full investigation is underway.
