Unrestrained infant, Sebastian Reyes, killed in Fort Worth collision
FORT WORTH, TX – Fort Worth Police have arrested a 17-year-old woman in connection to a crash that claimed the life of her six-month-old son.
According to Fox 4, the accident occurred last Saturday, March 7th, at the intersection of Rock Island Street and Azle Avenue in northwest Fort Worth.
The investigation thus far indicates that Karla Lopez caused a two-vehicle crash when she ran a stop sign at the intersection.
Her baby, who has since been identified as Sebastian Reyes, was thrown from the vehicle upon impact. Reyes, police say, was not properly restrained in the back seat of the vehicle. The infant died at an area hospital.
Medics transported Lopez to the hospital with non-critical injuries. She was later arrested on charges that include reckless injury to a child.
It’s unclear if anyone in the second vehicle sustained injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
