Jonathan Rivera, 12, killed in Bexar Co. street-racing crash
SAN ANTONIO, TX – A juvenile boy died Tuesday in a collision allegedly caused by a street race in northwest San Antonio, reports News 4 SA.
The accident happened shortly after 6:30 p.m. near the intersection of Culebra Road and North Elemdorf Street in the Woodlawn Lake area, just south of Woodlawn Lake Park.
The investigation thus far indicates that the driver of a sedan lost control while engaging in a street race with a black pickup truck. The sedan travelled onto the wrong side of Culebra Road and collided with a third vehicle.
A passenger in the sedan, since identified as 12-year-old Jonathan Rivera, sustained fatal injuries.
Medics transported the driver of the sedan and the elderly driver of the third vehicle to an area hospital with unknown injuries.
Charges are likely pending for the driver of the sedan.
The investigation is ongoing.
