Makynna Eden Tumlinson, 18, killed in rear-end crash with truck in Sherman

SHERMAN, TX – An 18-year-old woman was killed in a rear-end crash involving a commercial truck in Sherman on Wednesday, WFAA said.

The collision occurred before 3:45 p.m. on  State Highway 11 near McGraw Lane. Preliminary details from the Texas Department of Public Safety reveal that the young woman, identified as Makynna Eden Tumlinson, was going north on the highway when she could not control her speed and then crashed her Chevrolet Cruz car into the back of a 2007 International Truck.

Tumlinson succumbed to her injuries at the scene, while the truck driver survived and sustained injuries that were reported to be minor.

DPS said the surviving occupant, 37-year-old Hector Ivan Mejia Garcia, was taken to the emergency room for treatment.

DPS is working to determine why Tumlinson lost control of her car.
