Vanecia Deshun Williams & 2 daughters lose lives in collision with big rig near Terrell
NEAR TERRELL, TX – A 38-year-old woman and her two daughters were killed in a collision involving a big rig near Terrell on Sunday.
Fox4News said the incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. on U.S. Highway 80, east of Windmill Farms Boulevard and between Forney and Terrell.
Preliminary details show that 38-year-old Vanecia Deshun Williams was driving east on the highway when her 2013 Hyundai passenger car became disabled and was rear-ended by an 18-wheeler.
The impact of that crash caused the Hyundai to fall over a concrete bridge railing and below the bridge.
The truck driver, who was uninjured, told the Texas Department of Public Safety that they were unable to avoid a crash.
Williams and her two daughters, 9-year-old A’veonia, and 14-year-old Sa’niah, unfortunately, succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
Authorities shut down the eastbound lanes for several hours to allow a heavy wrecker and first responders to clean up debris from the crash and remove the impacted vehicles.
It’s not immediately clear whether Williams put on her hazard lights prior to the crash. DPS is working to piece together the events leading up to the collision.
