2 killed in rear-end crash involving trash truck in Grand Prairie

GRAND PRAIRIE, TX – Two people were killed in a rear-end crash involving a parked waste collection truck on Wednesday. 

According to the Dallas Morning News, the incident happened at 4:30 p.m. on the 500th block of Northeast Fifth Street. Preliminary details show that a Chevrolet Suburban driver was traveling south at a high rate of speed when they rear-ended a parked waste collection truck. 

Dallas Fire Rescue pronounced the Chevrolet driver dead at the scene and said EMS took three juvenile passengers to a local hospital. There, another minor died, and two others survived. 

One person sustained minor injuries, and another suffered critical, life-threatening injuries. 

The Dallas County medical examiner’s office will release names once their next of kin is notified.
