Juana Berenice Chavez Ojeda killed in car, pickup truck crash in Forney
FORNEY, TX – A 39-year-old woman was killed in a car and pickup truck crash in Forney on Saturday, WFAA reports.
The incident happened around 5:16 a.m. on U.S. 80 near Lawson Road. A 25-year-old adult, identified as Jaylin Maliq Chestnut, driving a Infiniti QX3, had made an unsafe lane change from the left lane to the right and crashed into a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.
The driver of the pickup truck, 39-year-old Juana Berenice Chavez Ojeda, lost control of her pickup truck and crashed into a concrete barrier. The pickup truck overturned, and the Infiniti also struck the same barrier.
The impact of the crash led to Chavez Ojeda’s death while her passenger, an 8-month-old baby, was seriously injured and taken to a medical center.
It’s not immediately clear if the baby was Chavez Ojeda’s own child.
Chestnut and their two passengers were not injured.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is actively working to determine the cause of the crash and has not announced criminal charges at this time.
