Michael Barrera, 36, fatally struck by Volkswagen in Richardson 

RICHARDSON, TX – A 36-year-old man identified as Michael Barrera was killed after he was struck by a Volkswagen sedan in Richardson on Sunday. 

The incident unfolded before 9 p.m. on the 100th block of South Central Expressway near Belt Line Road, according to Dallas Express. Police said Barrera, driving an Infiniti sedan, in the left lane crashed into the back of a Ford pickup truck, traveling at a low rate of speed with a blown tire. 

After this crash, the Ford pickup truck driver and Barrera exited their vehicles. 

A Volkswagen, traveling behind the initial collision, did what they could to avoid crashing into the Ford and Infiniti. However, the Volkswagen driver ended up striking the Ford and the Ford pickup truck driver. 

While the Volkswagen driver was able to avoid crashing into the Infiniti, they unfortunately struck Barrera, who was standing near the center concrete divider.

Subsequently, Barrera died from their injuries at the scene, while the Ford driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital. 

Barrera’s passenger and the Volkswagen driver were uninjured. 

A full investigation is underway.
