Roanoke PD officer hospitalized following pursuit-turned-crash on Highway 114 West
ROANOKE, TX – A Roanoke police officer had to go to the hospital following a pursuit-turned-crash on Highway 114 West on Sunday, NBCDFW said.
The incident unfolded when a Roanoke police officer, who was operating a motorcycle, was trying to stop another motorcyclist, a 26-year-old man from Lawton, Oklahoma, who was fleeing the scene of a separate collision.
A pursuit was initiated and, subsequently, the fleeing motorcyclist and the police officer collided with a van.
EMS crews rushed the fleeing motorcyclist and police officer to a hospital. The officer was treated for internal bleeding and is undergoing surgery for several broken bones.
Officials did not specify the extent of injuries the Oklahoma man sustained, but said he is now in police custody and charges are pending.
