1 killed, another critically hurt in trash truck collision in Fort Worth 

FORT WORTH, TX – One person died, and another was left in critical condition as a result of a trash truck collision in Fort Worth on Wednesday.  

According to Fox4News, the crash happened before 6:15 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 287 and Erath Street. For reasons unclear, a trash truck drifted off the road and crashed into bridge support pillars. 

The impact of the crash ejected one individual from the truck and led to fatal injuries. Another truck occupant, a man, suffered critical injuries and was rushed to a hospital for treatment. 

Authorities closed U.S. 287 in both directions, redirecting northbound traffic at Miller Avenue and southbound traffic at the exit at Barry Street. 

Commuters could also use service roads and other paths along the corridor as alternative routes. 

The Texas Department of Transportation said its goal will be to lift lane closures by Friday, depending on whether crews can repair the structural damage to the bridge support pillars by then.
