TxDOT reopens U.S. 287 in Fort Worth after fatal trash truck crash 

FORT WORTH, TX – Texas Department of Transportation reopened U.S. 287 in Fort Worth on Friday after a fatal trash truck crash, Fox4News announced. 

This comes as an update in connection with our previous reporting. TxDOT crews said they were able to remove the damaged bridge support and part of the Erath Street overpass, and reopened all lanes on the northbound side and one lane on the southbound side. 

Erath Street itself will be closed through October as crews will have to rebuild the overpass. 

Fort Worth also later confirmed that the trash truck that crashed into the support pillar was affiliated with Waste Management. One truck occupant was thrown from the truck and succumbed to their injuries at the scene, while the other individual, a man, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. 

Police are working hard to determine what caused the truck driver to crash into the support beam and have not released the victim’s identity at this time.
