Lynee Polis sentenced to 7 years in prison after 2023 crash that killed Honor Wallace

DALLAS, TX – Lynne Polis was sentenced to seven years in prison on Wednesday after she caused a crash in 2023 that killed Honor Wallace, a Southern Methodist University student.

This is an update in connection with our previous reporting. Fox4News said that 30-year-old Polis will also have to serve 10 years of probation and spend 15 days in jail surrounding Wallace’s birthday and Polis’.

Prior to the sentence, Polis was found guilty of intoxication manslaughter and assault on Monday, Oct. 12.

The Back Story

The crash happened on Sept. 24, 2023, before 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Monticello Avenue and North Central Expressway Service Road.

Polis, then 27, was driving with her husky and another passenger, and ran a red light and crashed into a vehicle traveling east on Monticello.

The driver of the eastbound vehicle, SMU student Honor Wallace, 19, had the right of way and suffered a broken collarbone, while Polis sustained minor injuries.

EMS crews rushed Polis, Polis’ passenger, and Wallace to a hospital. Wallace unfortunately later died from her injuries. Wallace was studying English and Spanish at the university, aspiring to get degrees in both.

An arrest affidavit later revealed that Polis admitted to police officers that she was on her way home with her husky and came from Mutts Canine Cantina, a dog park and bar in Dallas’ West Village prior to the crash.

Polis also confessed to police that she had a margarita with tequila shots at Mutts Canine Cantina and also took ADHD medication.

Police also said Polis had glossy eyes, smelled of alcohol, and had slurred speech, and said her BAC levels came to a .294, which is nearly four times the legal limit.
