Tisha Muntz, 52, killed in head-on crash near Whitesboro
NEAR WHITESBORO, TX – A 52-year-old woman lost her life as a result of a head-on crash that happened near Whitesboro on Thursday.
This is an update in connection with our previous reporting. Texas Department of Public Safety told KTEN that the incident happened before 8 a.m. on U.S. 377.
DPS said a 37-year-old man from Denton was driving north when he attempted to overtake a vehicle in front of him in a no-passing zone.
The Denton man, Christopher Cudd, went into the southbound lane and crashed his GMC Sierra pickup truck into a southbound Kia Sorento.
The Kia driver, the 52-year-old woman, tragically died from her injuries at the scene. She has since been identified as Tisha Muntz, a Gordonville resident and a teacher for the Whitesboro Independent School District.
Cudd was seriously injured. DPS did not say whether they cited Cudd for his involvement, or whether speeding or impairment were other factors in the crash.
We will continue to monitor for the latest developments and issue updates once we know more.
