3-vehicle crash kills 2, hurts 1 on I-20EB near Belt Line

GRAND PRAIRIE, TX – Two people died, and one person sustained serious injuries in a 3-car collision on the interstate in Grand Prairie, reports DFW Scanner.

The incident happened around 5:2o p.m. on the eastbound side of I-20 near Belt Line Road, which is just southwest of Dallas County Nature Preserve.

Police say that an eastbound vehicle sideswiped a second vehicle, which then struck a third vehicle on the shoulder of the roadway.

The third vehicle contained three occupants, one of whom died at the scene of the accident. A second person died after transport to a local hospital. Medics transported the third person to the hospital with critical injuries.

It is unclear at this time if anyone in the first or second vehicles sustained injuries.

Police say the first driver was speeding when he lost control of his vehicle. They arrested the driver of the first vehicle, identified as 22-year-old William Thompson, on charges of manslaughter and aggravated assault.

A full investigation is underway.
