2-vehicle crash involving semi on US-69 in Rusk kills 1

RUSK, TX – A 44-year-old man from Minnesota died Monday after a crash involving an 18-wheeler along a highway in central Cherokee County.

According to KETK News, the incident happened on the southbound side of US-69 in the city of Rusk, which is about two hours southeast of Dallas.

The victim was driving a 2023 RAM van when he left the roadway and struck a tree. Police say that roads were wet and that the driver of a semi-truck first lost control while speeding and caused the accident. It’s not yet clear exactly how this happened or whether the truck driver sustained injuries in the accident.

Authorities identified the victim as Nicholas Schintgen.

A full investigation is underway. Our team of news bloggers will post updates if we learn more about additional injuries or the circumstances of the crash.
