Denton Co. UTV accident near Berend and Maier kills 1, injures 1

PILOT POINT, TX – A 22-year-old woman died, and another woman went to the hospital Sunday after a two-vehicle UTV accident in northeast Denton County, reports KXII 12.

The incident happened in the afternoon on Berend Road near Maier Road in the city of Pilot Point. This is about an hour northwest of Plano.

Police say that for unknown reasons, the driver of the UTV lost control of the vehicle while speeding, at which point it overturned, throwing her from the UTV.

Authorities pronounced the driver of the UTV deceased at the scene. They identified her as Keila Del-Rio.

Del-Rio’s 19-year-old passenger went to the hospital with non-critical injuries.

A full investigation is underway.
