Police identify victim in Arlington crash on I-20 near TX-360

ARLINGTON, TX – Police have shared additional details regarding a fatal crash that occurred along the interstate in Arlington on Wednesday.

According to WFAA News 8, 19-year-old Elijah Campbell died after losing control of his Nissan Altima and hitting a parked car on the right shoulder of I-20 westbound.

Officials say that the force of the collision threw Campbell from his vehicle, as he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

The incident happened around 2:39 a.m. in the area of 2600 East Interstate 20 Freeway, which is near the junction with TX-360. This blog previously reported incorrectly that the crash occurred near Collins Street.

Authorities closed several lanes in the area of the crash for more than three hours while crews worked to investigate and clear the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
