Man killed in hit-and-run crash on Jacksboro Hwy near Felder St
FORT WORTH, TX – A man died Saturday night in a hit-and-run collision along the Jacksboro Highway in the Crestwood area of Fort Worth, reports NBC DFW 5.
The accident happened around 9:22 p.m. between Felder Street and Belle Avenue, which is just north of Crestwood Park and the Rockwood Park Golf Course.
Police say that 25-year-old Jose Ramirez Olmedo was speeding when he ran a red light on the southbound side of the highway, causing a collision with a second vehicle.
The force of the impact threw one person from the second vehicle. Medics transported the ejected party to the hospital, where he died from injuries sustained in the crash. Authorities have not yet released the name of the deceased.
Olmedo exited his vehicle and ran from the scene of the accident. Police apprehended and arrested Olmedo not long after the crash. He will faces charges in connection to the fatal accident.
