Police arrest driver in connection to fatal crash at Loop 820 and White Settlement

FORT WORTH, TX – Authorities are sharing additional details about a multi-vehicle crash involving a semi that killed a woman last Thursday in Fort Worth., reports WFAA News 8.

As our team previously reported, the accident happened around 1:30 a.m. in the area of West Loop 820 South and White Settlement Road. This is on the far west side of Fort Worth.

Police have clarified that the 18-wheeler involved in the collision rear-ended a car that had stopped for slowed traffic in a construction zone. This initial crash caused a chain-reaction that involved an unknown number of additional vehicles.

The driver of the first car died in the accident, and five others went to the hospital with injuries.

Authorities arrested the truck driver, identified as 24-year-old Guadalupe Velazquez, on charges of intoxication manslaughter and assault with a vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing.
