Worker struck by road grader, killed near TX-29 and NE Inner Loop
GEORGETOWN, TX – A construction worker died earlier this month when a road grader struck him at a construction site in Georgetown, reports Fox 7 Austin.
The incident occurred September 2nd around 5 p.m., on a private drive off of East State Highway 29 between Northeast Inner Loop and Reinhardt Boulevard.
Police say that a construction worker was utilizing a road grader to smooth out the dirt where a gas pipeline had just been laid. The grader struck a worker who was walking at the site. The worker, whom authorities have identified as Jose De Jesus Diaz-Valenzuela, died at the scene after going into cardiac arrest.
No other injuries have been reported in connection to the incident.
Authorities say that OSHA will likely review the accident to ensure that all workplace safety protocols were followed.
The investigation is ongoing.
