Motorcyclist killed in 4-vehicle crash on FM 1488 near Joseph Rd

WALLER CO., TX – One person died, and two others were injured Sunday in a four-vehicle crash along FM 1488 in northeast Waller County.

According to Montgomery County Police Reporter, the accident happened around 9:30 p.m. just south of the intersection with Joseph Road. This is about 49 miles northwest of Houston.

Police say that a westbound 2021 Kia Sportage entered the eastbound side of FM 1488 and collided head-on with an eastbound 2016 Kawasaki Ninja.

The operator of the Kawasaki, identified as Travis Bailey, died at the scene of the crash.

A second motorcyclist, operating a black 2020 Yamaha R6 and identified as Daniel Perez, did not sustain injuries in the accident, though his bike was damaged by debris.

The accident caused a third motorcyclist, identified as Kelley Tompkins, to leave the roadway and crash into a ditch.

Medics transported the driver of the Kia, identified as Dianne Wheeler, to an area hospital with non-critical injuries, while Tompkins was airlifted to the hospital with critical injuries.

A full investigation is underway.
