Wrong-way crash on FM 1774 near Wade Rd kills 1, hurts 1

GRIMES CO., TX – A 38-year-old Tomball man died last Saturday in a wrong-way crash along a major roadway in southeast Grimes County, reports KBTX 3.

The accident happened around 8:45 p.m. on FM 1774 near Wade Road. This is between Todd Mission and Fetzer, about 50 miles northwest of Houston.

Police say that a southbound Jeep Grand Cherokee collided with a northbound Dodge Ram 1500 in the northbound turn-lane of FM 1774. The driver of the Jeep was attempting to pass other southbound vehicles, while the driver of the Dodge had entered the turn-lane in preparation for turning left on Wade Road.

A passenger in the Jeep sustained fatal injuries. Authorities identified him as Juan Cervantez.

Medics transported the driver of the Jeep to an area hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the Dodge remained unhurt.

A full investigation is underway.
