Orlando Benedetto, 32, killed in cycling crash in N Laredo
LAREDO, TX – A 32-year-old man sustained fatal injuries Saturday in a bicycle accident along the interstate in north-central Laredo.
According to KGNS, the collision happened shortly before 11 p.m. on the southbound side of I-35 near the exit Calton Road. This is just south of the Mall del Norte.
Police say the cyclist was struck by two vehicles, the first of which fled the scene.
The 26-year-old driver of the second vehicle did stop to render aid and did not show any signs of intoxication while speaking with authorities.
The cyclist, since identified as Orlando Benedetto, died at the scene of the accident.
Officials continue to search for the first driver.
