Jose Balderas Conteras, Emerald Carta killed in 2-car crash
ECTOR CO., TX – Two men died late Tuesday night in a wrong-way collision along the highway in eastern Ector County, reports NewsWest 9.
The accident happened shortly after 11:30 p.m. on the southbound side of US-385 near mile marker 361.
Police say that for unknown reasons, a northbound 2003 Ford Explorer entered the southbound side of the highway and collided head-on with a 2021 Chevrolet Malibu.
Authorities declared both drivers deceased at the scene. They identified the unrestrained wrong-way driver as Jose C. Balderas Conteras, 22. The southbound driver was identified as Emerald Neomi Carta, 20.
A full investigation is underway.
