Gloria Garza, 62, killed in Beaumont collision on I-10

BEAUMONT, TX – A multi-vehicle crash along the interstate in southwest Beaumont claimed the life of one person and injured several others on Sunday, reports 12 News Now.

The accident happened around 1:30 p.m. on the eastbound side of I-10 just before Walden Road. This is near Black Bear Diner and Cracker Barrel Old Country Store.

Police haven’t yet specified the cause of the wreck. They say that a white Chevy pickup truck was involved in an initial collision that then caused at least one subsequent crash involving five additional vehicles. The vehicles involved include an 18-wheeler, a box truck, two cars, and a pickup truck.

A passenger in the white pickup died at the scene of the accident. Authorities identified her as 62-year-old Gloria Garza of Corpus Christi.

Medics transported the driver of the white pickup to an area hospital with serious injuries.

Officials say that several other people sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the wreck. It’s unclear how many of them required hospitalization.

Authorities closed the interstate in the area of the crash for around four hours while crews worked at the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
