Steven Ellard killed Parmer Co. semi crash caused by dust storm

PARMER CO., TX – An elderly man died Friday in a multi-vehicle crash involving a semi along the highway in southwestern Parmer County, reports abc 7 News.

The accident happened around 11:30 a.m. on the eastbound side of US-60 just east of Farwell and about 90 miles northwest of Lubbock.

Police say drivers were experiencing low visibility caused by a dust storm when three vehicles collided. First, a 2011 GMC Sierra hit the back of a disabled 18-wheeler, and then, a 2008 Chrysler 3XL rear-ended the Sierra.

Authorities declared the driver of the Sierra deceased at the scene. They identified him as 71-year-old Steven Ellard.

It’s unclear if anyone else sustained injuries in the wreck.

A full investigation is underway.
