SAN BENITO, TX – A 70-year-old man died Saturday in a two-vehicle collision involving an 18-wheeler along the highway in south-central Cameron County, reports myRGV.Com.
Emergency teams reported to the intersection of FM 1421 and FM 233 in the afternoon following accounts of a major accident. This is just south of Russelltown in the San Benito area.
Police say that a red Kenworth semi-trailer rear-ended a blue Chevrolet Aveo on the southbound side of FM 1421 when the driver of the Aveo slowed to make a left turn on FM 233.
The driver of the sedan, identified as Lorenzo Guajardo, succumbed to his injuries after transport to an area hospital.
