Ivan Betancourt-Sanchez killed in wrong-way crash on US-190
MILAM CO., TX – A man died, and a woman sustained injuries Friday in a wrong-way collision along the highway in central Milam County, reports KBTX 3.
The accident happened shortly after 10:30 a.m. on US-190 near County Road 241, which is between Hoyte and Milano and about 70 miles northeast of Austin.
Police say that an eastbound Chevrolet Malibu entered the westbound side of US-190 and collided head-on with a westbound Toyota Camry. The driver of the Malibu was attempting to pass slower traffic on US-190 eastbound.
The wrong-way driver, identified as 37-year-old Jorge Ivan Betancourt-Sanchez of Bryan, died at the scene of the crash.
The 51-year-old female driver of the Toyota went to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
