Jessica Rivera, 40, killed in UTV crash in Liberty County

LIBERTY CO., TX – A woman sustained fatal injuries Saturday in a solo crash involving a utility task vehicle in south-central Liberty County, reports Bluebonnet News.

The accident occurred just before 1 a.m. along County Road 133 near Moss Bluff. This is south of Liberty and about 54 miles northeast of Houston.

Police say that for unknown reasons, a John Deere side-by-side UTV carrying three people left the roadway and crashed into a drain pipe.

The impact of the crash threw all three passengers from the vehicle, fatally injuring one of them. 40-year-old Jessica Rivera died after transport to an area hospital.

Medics transported another passenger, identified as 43-year-old Jeremy Bishop, to the hospital with injuries of unknown severity.

It’s unclear if the driver of the UTV sustained injuries in the accident. Authorities identified her as Liberty County Constable Tammy Bishop.

A full investigation is underway.
