Luther Young Jr., 28, claimed in semi accident on TX-302

ODESSA, TX – A 28-year-old man died in a T-bone collision involving two semi-trucks early Monday morning in central Ector County, reports NewsWest 9.

The fatal accident occurred around 2:30 a.m. at the intersection of TX-302 and FM 866, which is at the far northwest corner of West Odessa.

Police say that an eastbound 2018 International HX620 and a northbound 2019 Freightliner SD 122 collided when the driver of the latter truck neglected to yield right of way at the intersection.

The unrestrained driver of the northbound 18-wheeler died at the scene of the crash. Authorities identified him as Luther Bernard Young Jr.

Medics transported the driver of the International to an area hospital with minor injuries.

Motorists likely encountered delays in the area of TX-302 and FM 866 while emergency crews worked at the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
