Brandon Waugh struck, killed on S Coulter in Amarillo
AMARILLO, TX – A 34-year-old man sustained fatal injuries Sunday morning when a drunk driver struck him on the west side of Amarillo, reports abc 7 News.
The auto-pedestrian collision occurred shortly after 6:30 a.m. along Coulter Street South between Wolflin Avenue and Kirklin Drive. This is southwest of the Amarillo Botanical Gardens and northeast of Westgate Mall.
Police say that 34-year-old Brett Hudson was likely intoxicated when he lost control of his southbound Buick Enclave and hit Brandon Waugh either on the sidewalk or near the side of the road.
Waugh succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Authorities arrested Hudson on a charge of intoxication manslaughter.
Motorists likely faced delays along Coulter Street South in the area of the crash while emergency crews worked at the scene.
