Tommy Moorehead III, 41, and 2 kids killed in head-on crash
GRAYSON CO., TX – A man and two children died Sunday afternoon in a wrong-way collision in southeast Grayson County, reports Fox 4 News.
The three-vehicle crash occurred around noon on FM-3133 between Sister Grove Creek and Jim Cannon Road. This is just east of Van Alstyne and about 33 miles northeast of Plano.
Police say that a westbound 2007 Dodge 3500 entered the eastbound side of FM-3133 and collided head-on with an eastbound 2003 Chevrolet Silverado. The Dodge then struck a westbound 2017 Toyota Tacoma.
The driver of the Silverado, identified as 41-year-old Tommy Moorehead III, and two juvenile passengers died at the scene of the accident.
Medics transported the wrong-way driver, identified as 63-year-old Rocky Patterson, to an area hospital with unknown injuries.
The driver of the Toyota did not require hospitalization.
The preliminary investigation indicates that Patterson was attempting to pass the westbound Tacoma in a no-passing zone and an area of low visibility when the crash occurred.
There’s no word yet regarding charges.
The investigation is ongoing.
