Erica Garza, 20, killed in downtown Austin hit-and-run crash

AUSTIN, TX – Authorities have identified the 20-year-old woman who died last Friday from injuries sustained earlier this month in a hit-and-run collision in Austin, reports KVUE.

The morning of Sunday, May 11th, emergency crews were called to an auto-pedestrian crash in the 700 block of East 7th Street. This is just west of I-35 in downtown Austin.

Police say that a car driven by 28-year-old Lily Bao Do hit two male pedestrians and one female pedestrian along East 7th Street. Bao Do did not stop to render aid and to speak with officials but instead fled north.

Medics transported all three pedestrians to an area hospital. The female pedestrian, identified as 20-year-old Erica Garza, died six days later from her injuries.

The two male pedestrians sustained only minor injuries.

Authorities reviewed video surveillance to identify the hit-and-run driver. Lily Bao Do was arrested Tuesday on multiple charges.

The investigation is ongoing.
