Bell Co. motorcyclist, Amanda Bell, struck during police chase
ROYSE CITY, TX – A woman sustained serious injuries last Friday when a car fleeing police struck her motorcycle along a major roadway in southeast Royse City.
According to NBC DFW 5, the two-vehicle collision happened around 9:45 p.m. on FM-35 near Mercer Drive, which is east of Stone River Golf Club and south of Royse City High School.
The investigation so far indicates that a driver was evading police when they entered oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a motorcycle on FM-35.
Medics airlifted the motorcyclist, since identified as Amanda Bell, to the hospital with serious injuries. Bell underwent multiple surgeries as a result of the crash, including a leg amputation.
No other injuries have been referenced in connection to the accident, and DPS has not yet disclosed the reason for the police chase.
The investigation is ongoing.
