Single-vehicle crash on Gulf Fwy in Webster kills child, injures others

WEBSTER, TX – A major accident along the freeway in southeast Harris County killed a small child and injured multiple others on Wednesday, reports abc 13.

Shortly before 4 p.m., emergency crews responded to a single-vehicle collision on the southbound side of the Gulf Freeway, or I-45, at West Bay Area Boulevard in the city of Webster.

Police say that for unknown reasons, the driver of a Chevy sedan carrying at least nine people lost control of the vehicle. The car crashed into a concrete barrier, fatally injuring a child passenger.

Medics transported an unknown number of adults and children to an area hospital with unspecified injuries. Authorities say that many of the victims were not properly restrained when the crash occurred.

Officials closed the freeway Wednesday afternoon while crews attended to the victims and worked to clear the scene.
