Mazda and Jeep collide in N Bedias, killing Kate Connally

BEDIAS, TX – A wrong-way crash along the highway in northeast Grimes County claimed an 18-year-old woman on Saturday afternoon, reports KBTX 3.

The incident occurred shortly before 4 p.m. just south of County Road 115 along TX-90 on the north side of Bedias. This is about 95 miles northwest of Houston.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a southbound 2023 Mazda CX-5 attempted to pass other southbound vehicles by entering the northbound side of TX-90. While in the northbound lanes, the Mazda collided head-on with a northbound 2020 Jeep Wrangler.

Medics transported two people from the Jeep, including the driver, to a hospital near College Station with serious injuries.

The wrong-way driver, identified as Kate Connally, succumbed to her injuries at the scene of the accident.

Motorists likely encountered substantial delays along TX-90 in the Bedias area while emergency teams assisted the victims and worked to clear the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
