Houston PD investigates hit-and-run that killed Oscar Garcia

HOUSTON, TX – A 23-year-old man died over the Fourth of July weekend in an auto-pedestrian accident in northeast Houston, reports Fox 26 Houston.

The incident occurred just after midnight Sunday at a car meetup event located in the area of 8501 North Loop East. This is south of BC Elmore Elementary School and northwest of the Hunting Bayou Greenway.

Police say that Oscar Garcia was filming at the car event when he tripped and fell. A red Dodge Charger struck Garcia, pinning him below the car.

A bystander helped to extricate Garcia, at which point the 22-year-old driver of the Charger, identified as Chaizon Myson Young, fled the scene.

Authorities declared Garcia deceased at the scene of the accident.

Police located and arrested Young on hit-and-run charges in connection to a fatal crash.

A full investigation is underway.
