John Tobias Jr. IDed as victim in East El Paso hit and run

EL PASO, TX – A motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries in a hit-and-run accident that happened on the Fourth of July on the east side of El Paso, reports KFOX 14.

Shortly after midnight, emergency crews responded to a motorcycle crash at the intersection of TX-375 and North Zaragoza Road, which is near Montwood and Montwood Heights.

Police say that a diesel truck struck a motorcyclist along North Zaragoza, causing the motorcyclist to lose control of his bike and to hit a barrier along the roadway.

The driver of the diesel truck fled the scene without stopping to render aid and to speak with police.

The motorcyclist, identified as John Tobias Jr., was taken off of life support a few days after the accident at the hospital.

At this time, authorities haven’t provided any details about the hit-and-run driver involved in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information or tips to share can contact the El Paso Police Department.
