Kimberly Creel, daughter claimed in Hardin Co. train crash
HARDIN CO., TX – A woman and her adult daughter died Tuesday in an auto-train collision in northwest Hardin County, reports 12 News abc.
The accident happened shortly before 2 p.m. on Woods Lane near FM 1293 in the community of Honey Island. This is just northwest of Kountze and about 32 miles northwest of Beaumont.
Police say that an eastbound train collided with a westbound Dodge pickup truck carrying Kimberly Creel and her daughter, Kimberly Shawnea Carver.
Both women succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
Only two people were on the train at the time of the crash, and they did not sustain injuries.
Officials have confirmed that the railroad intersection at Woods Lane lacks crossing arms and safety lights and that visibility at the crossing is compromised by heavy brush.
A full investigation is underway.
